Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Floating Lyrics website and browser extension handle information. Floating Lyrics does not use accounts, payments, analytics, advertising, or a developer-operated server in its current release.

Controller

Browser extension

The extension accesses information from supported music pages only to provide synchronized lyrics. This processing takes place in your browser. The extension does not send your listening activity, lyrics, settings, or diagnostic information to Floating Lyrics or to a Floating Lyrics server.

The extension uses information from your existing signed-in music-service session to request lyrics directly from that service. This information is processed in your browser and is not sent to Floating Lyrics.

Storage

The extension saves preferences and technical information in Chrome. If Chrome Sync is enabled, Google can synchronize some preferences between your signed-in Chrome browsers. Other extension data remains on your device. You can remove it through Chrome or by uninstalling the extension.

Website

The website does not use analytics, advertising trackers, tracking pixels, non-essential cookies, or account registration. The hosting provider can process technical request logs to deliver and secure the site.

The homepage loads demo images from Wikimedia Commons. Your browser connects to Wikimedia to load those images, so Wikimedia receives the information normally sent with a web request.

Support messages

If you contact Floating Lyrics, your email address, message, name, and any technical information you choose to send are used to answer your request. Do not include passwords, authentication tokens, or other secrets.

Purpose, legal basis, and retention

Information needed to provide the extension or answer a support request is processed to perform the service you requested. Website security and troubleshooting are based on the legitimate interest in keeping Floating Lyrics secure and working.

Extension data remains in Chrome until you clear it or uninstall the extension. The website host, email provider, Google, Wikimedia, and the music service you use apply their own privacy and retention rules. Their processing can occur outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards required by applicable law. Support messages are kept only while needed to answer the request or meet a legal duty.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Floating Lyrics uses information only to provide or improve synchronized lyrics in a floating window.

Your rights

You can request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection where the GDPR gives you those rights. You can also complain to a data protection authority. Use the contact details in the Legal Notice.

Changes to this policy

Floating Lyrics does not currently use accounts, payments, or licence verification. This policy will be updated before paid features are introduced or data handling changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision.
